![]() I know they are poorer people who are trying to make a living, so I don't fault them, but I was hoping for a place where I can relax and interact with the locals.Īny advice on the main differences in the cities and which may be better for a single guy would be appreciated. Lastly, in addition, which city has less "touts/hawkers?" I know any city has them, but I went to Puerto Vallarta years ago and had many vendors constantly coming up to me. I'm also looking to go out at night and am hoping to find places where I can chill out and be left alone. I figure that in MC the buses and metro system would be a good way to get around, but I want to make sure it's safe (I know you always gotta be aware of pickpockets, much like in most big cities). ![]() Since it'll be just me, I'm torn between going to a big city like MC and going around the city seeing the many big sights, or going to SJ and chilling out in the city, and perhaps taking a tour to see the surrounding area. I know people often say "MC is dangerous", but I think that's more of Mexican-on-Mexican crime, and not related to tourists? I also understand though that SJ can be sketchy and has it's problem spots as well. I realize Mexico City is a huge city with a lot going on and SJ seems to be a more relaxed, naturally scenic country. ![]() I will be traveling alone and didn't know which city may be a better choice for me. ![]() I have narrowed my choices down to MC and SJ for possible vacation choices. ![]()
